Union Pacific conductor accused of stealing diesel horns

Stupid thing is, he probably sold them for scrap, the metal robbery in this area is unbelievable. Every church in this area is missing copper downsports. Vacant housing and some recently built housing is losing copper weire and pipes. They every started stealing the condensors from outside Air conditioner units.

He deserves everything the courts and U.P. can throw at him as far as I’m concerned, why would anyone do something as stupid as this and end up 1. losing a $60K to $90K a tear job ( with benefits ) and 2. end up with a felony on your record? I can only imagine how happy his junior employees feel now that they’ve moved 1 higher in seniority. People like this is what give good, hard working, decent railroaders a bad rap.

is there anymore to buy? lol

Only a matter of time until the NIMBY gangs will start worshiping this guy because from their viewpoint, he is solving the problem of freight trains making too much noise.

What a fool! He threw away his job,his freedom, and his railroad retirement!

Why would anyone be so stupid? I work for a major class one railroad, and I’ve never heard of anything so silly!! None of my coworkers or myself, would NEVER think of doing ANYTHING like that!!! We really like our jobs, we respect our company. I hope he gets the ten years in prison. That not only is costly, but could be dangerous as well. To disrespect your employer and steal from them, is wrong, just plain wrong.

He should get 10 years for each horn! Because he earned it.

He should have been fired before he had the opportunity to resign.

Tim, I think that the $15,000 figure included the lost utilization of
the locomotive and the labor to make the repairs.

He was pretty nervy, I’d say. If he were taking them off locos that were stored or out of service for long periods, that would have been one thing. This suggests he was taking them off units that were in fairly steady use. How hard is one to remove, by the way? It must not take long or require anything beyond a socket wrench I’d guess.

Stealing from your employer, dumb. Losing everything that you worked for, really dumb. Going to jail and having to pay your employer back for being really dumb and having a record for doing something really, really dumb, PRICELESS!!
