Utah Rails lists the color of the anti-glare green as UP Common Standard 22, No. 30. The Pantone color match appears to be 553, Dark Spring Green. I have not found a cross-reference from Pantone to FS 595.

What have you found to be the best color match among model paints? Southern Green looks about as close as I have found so far.

Looking at one of my own locos, and this color chart that might be of some help to you, http://www.microscale.com/Floquil%20Color%20Chart.pdf I think Southern Green is a pretty close match. According to the above chart, Model Masters makes an enamel paint equivalent to Southern Green called European Green, part number 1764. Hope this helps.

Hello All,

I “eye” the colors. I am a “just good enough” modeler so if the paint doesn’t exactly match the prototype, but is close I’m OK with it.

Rattle cans make up most of my painting tasks even though I have an airbrush.

Anti-glare painted sections are typically a flat finish. This is true on everything from race cars to airplanes.

If you can’t find a flat finish in the paint color you are seeking you can always use a dulling spray.

Thanks, gmpullman, but I doubt I have the skills to cut the decal to match the compound curves of an N-Scale (or any other scale) F3A. Microscale has some HO sheets for E or F units, but I’ve never seen any for N Scale.
