Union Pacific E8A gets its wings back

This UP E8A back in original Union Pacific paint is cool. Thank goodness that these older diesels have been preserved. Too bad we don’t have an Alco DL109 or Baldwin centipede!

Nice! Wish someone would create a “bumper” sticker in the oval shape of the EMD builders plate (the “hot dog”).

The ATSF-“Warbonnets”, GN -“Omaha Orange” , UP/CNW/MILW -“Armor Yellow, NP -Cascade Green” gave us a taste of true pride in their equipment.
Let’s encourage operators of this rolling stock to preserve the heritage.

Saw a EMD like this in Perris in 2/2002.Can not remember if this is the same EMD tho

This former UP E8 will be great to see again. Now has special significance since I learned it became a CNW commuter unit as I grew up in Wilmette, IL. “Crandall Cab” units I knew were former UP ‘B’ units rebuilt in Oelwein, IA at former CGW shops.

I think it looks great. She even still has the nose door that UP decided to remove from there E9’s. E and F units don’t look right with there nose doors removed. As for removing the HEP generators from the unit, why? Having HEP to me would be a bonus more than a minus. Just needs the nose door grab irons installed.
