WOW! That will happen. Most of the time it happens where you don’t expect it.
Did the UP use rerailing Frogs or use the Hook out of Roseville to make everything normal? Just asking!
Really glad it’s back on the rails…it was awesome to see UP844 as it steamed along the Truckee River west of Floriston, enroute to Truckee, then on to Sacramento
We all stump our toe once in awhile. If UP and the 844 Crew can keep the “incidents” this far apart, they’re doing ok. Thank goodness it was this minor!
While visiting the event on Saturday, we noticed the rear most wheels on the tender were not touching the rails. They had blocked the suspension to raise them off the rails because the turn into the track was too tight. I guess they tried it first and failed.
They really aren’t doing that bad. I was told that the Texas flat spot incident was just operator error, not machine malfunction. This is just something that can happen with a steam locomotive in the modern era (or any era for that matter)
Glad to hear everything was fixed and up and running.
They just aren’t having much luck this year!
The question is : Was the turnout too tight for the Centipede tender to negotiate?
