Union Pacific ranks second as military-friendly employer

91 Disabled Vets…doin’ a most noble right, virtuous and intrinsically correct thing…
Curious…running engines…the pathway was, brakeman/condr to engine service which certainly made sense, and was part of the (union) agreements.
I’d like to read that an exception has been made for prosthetic legs.
Except for security (tying and untying handbrakes) climbing into the cab with your “grip” is the most physical part of the engineer experience. Then you sit… and sit…and 'til your bladder demands…
But brakemen/condrs encounter terrain, that I suspect is at the least daunting for prosthetics…and then there’s replacements for broken knuckles.

Be nice if there was a link:

CSX is #4.

UP is one US company you can be proud of

BNSF, Martin, too.

It doesn’t say that the disabled veterans are running trains, though I’m sure many of them could do it. There are a myriad of jobs that are behind the scenes.

There are Service Members with prosthetics who continue to serve: parachuting, SCUBA diving, and fighting in combat. Working in any job may require some adaptation, but not all injuries are “disabilities.”
