Trainorders thread just posted some pictures with the tarps off, however, before you get excited, they only show the top of the units behind the passenger cars being used for shields to hid the units until later tomorrow morning.
I’m almost certain this is the reason for the “heritage” units.
Yeah, of course they can’t just do it for railfans and all. They have to get something out of it. That’s what corporations do…

I’ve seen the spyshots of the MoPAC unit. Looks great! The blue looks a little light, though.

Looks to me like they used Conrail blue.
Both Tower 55 and OMI will be doing these units!

Omaha, Neb., July 30, 2005 – Union Pacific Chairman and CEO *** Davidson today unveiled an unprecedented new Heritage series of locomotives that will honor the people and the railroads that have made the company what it is today. Each locomotive will feature a unique paint scheme, incorporating elements of one of the six major railroads that have merged with Union Pacific.
“It is important that we take an historical perspective of who we are and how we got here,” Davidson said. “Our reputation as America’s greatest railroad has been strengthened by the many lines that have become a part of the UP. It is time we pay homage to those railroads and the generations of men and women who helped to build a great nation and the foundation for our future.”
The first two locomotives in the series were revealed Saturday in Omaha. The locomotives, which pay tribute to the men and women of Missouri Pacific and Western Pacific, will operate across the UP system.
The Missouri Pacific and Western Pacific locomotives will be followed in coming months by locomotives painted in the style of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas (Katy), Chicago & North Western, Southern Pacific, and Denver & Rio Grande.
The C&NW, SP, Katy and theD&RG will get heritage units in the future months.

Has there been any word on when these units will be put into regular service?
The Union Pacific does something that is great and you two guys turn it into something stupid.[B)] The UP did it for publicity, not to get an extra 5 bucks from you two guys.[:0] I guess people are never going to stop bashing the UP.[:(] I don’t get it.[V]
If they don’t paint a unit in D&RGW,they won’t be able to charge us extra for Rio Grande models[:(!]!

Will BNSF get a share of the licensing money, since that train was run jointly with Frisco?
