Its a B23-7 from the MP merger.

That is UP 126. According to that site, UPY 126 is a CCRCL converted from a B23-7.

I went to your link, but didn’t find it.
According to http://www.trainweb.org/utahrails/up/3iupr.html UPY 126 was converted from SP 7856 (B30-7) on 9/23/03

I did a google search with “UPY 126” and the first return was that page. Great resource. Thanks.

Y=Yard
This is a separate number series for switchers and related units
Peter
Union Pacific established the UPY reporting mark during the general renumbering occasioned by the order of 1000 (since enlarged) SD70M’s a few years back. They chose to establi***he UPY series for switchers, hump pushers, slugs, etc. rather than go to five-digit numbers.
UP bought it when they merged MP; they just painted it grey so everyone knows its a RCCL engine
