Is the UP still installing new concrete ties on the Council Bluffs line?
Allan.
No. We’re on the Boone Sub. installing concrete between Carroll and Boone on #1 track.
Ok. Any chance the UP might run all their Trains tomorrow. Or will they Detour off the Boone sub?
Why do you have a little thing below your little locomotives displaying my IP address and ISP and all that stuff…??
You are the only one that sees that. It’s a simple script that uses your IPCONFIG info.
Here’s your answer…

I doubt that there will be detours. They’ll just fleet everything through there. Plus we won’t be doing production work again until Sept. 16th. Everything will run on #2 track. There will be lots of trains backed up waiting for their fleet movements.
You’re coming to Illinois later this fall, right?
Correct. Next month.
Where to in IL?
That would, I believe, be on the east-west main line , west of DeKalb, and east of Clinton, not including the immediate Rochelle area. One track only, for now.
Hopefully the weather won’t suck this weekend. I plan on shooting video of the UP just west of Woodbine this Saturday. I can’t stand those very slow Trains in Omaha. There killing me. I just hope for alot of Trains on Saturday.
When the gangs are working, MPRCB detours over the Iowa Interstate, lately using IAIS crews. It’s eastbound counterpart comes over the UP like normal. Some westbound trains detour thru Des Moines and Kansas City. Mostly empty hopper trains, I believe.
While the gangs are on their off cycle, most everthing runs their normal route, no detouring.
Jeff
I knew there couldn’t be too many trains detouring because we have to clear up for lots of them. We had some trainmen telling us that there weren’t many trains running on this line, but I had to kind of disagree with that one.[:)]
D*MN! I was hopeing to Railfan this saturday on the UP at woodbine. But if their gona run detours, then forget it.
You’ll still see plenty of trains. I don’t think any eastbounds are detoured. Actually, with fewer, but still plenty of westbounds, they can take more trains eastward over the Blair Sub than they normally do.
They seem to call about 4 or 5 westbounds, wait one to three hours and call 4 or 5 more, all around 30mins apart. I got on my train at Boone the other day, and a crew that had been on duty about 5 hours was first out at the beginning of the single track, then about 20 miles west of Boone.
If you’re out there, watch for the engr with the red and white polka dot Kromer cap.
Jeff
LOL. Let’s hope so too. I don’t want to go home empty handed. I just hope for no more rain. If you see a brown redish ford pickup,it’s me with me video camera. I haven’t been out there in two years. The only reason why I like that location is…it’s remote, quiet, and peacefull out there. Plus the fast moving Trains is what I like the most. I can’t stand slow moving Trains like Omaha. Oh,and by the way. Ill be located at the Quincy Trail County Road Crossing. Give me a toot if you see me Track side. [:D] Allan.
