Union Pacific.

Can someone please tell me when the Union Pacific is gona start running normal Train traffic on the East West line. I went over Mo valley yesterday. (09-24-06) And traffic just sucked. There where no Westbounds at all. There where just only Eastbounds. I realy want to Railfan on the Union Pacific. The lack of Trains is driveing me nuts. Allan.

Work must be done over on the Boone sub because the Trains are running like holy hell out here. Good. That will make for a great weekend of Railfanning.

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago or so trains are being fleeted through the work area. So you’re going to have long periods with no trains and then several westbounds will come through. If you were to go over to Jefferson you would see eastbounds staging there waiting to go through the single track. The work on the Boone Sub. will start back up on October 1st and run through the following weekend.

Thank you so much. That will give me enough time to do some Railfanning this Saturday over at Willitt.

You’re quite welcome.

BNSF,

Dont feel too bad,it’s the same way where I live(Tx) UP has directional running here and all you see is north bnd trains and they are far afew between…It really is a bummer …Danny

You’ve got that right. I just want some fast action Trains. And UP is the way to go.

Hey Guys, this probably won’t help you this weekend, but when you can, get down to Texas along the old SP Sunset Route. Multiple trains, both directions. Mostly intermodal, but a whole lot of manifests too. UP is rapidly double tracking, and in some places triple tracking the route. Capacity is a major issue, but many, many, trains. Wife and I see it each year on annual to trip to LA from Central Alabama.

Go to S. California there you will become trained out. One day recently I saw 44 trains in just 7 hours

Allen: You are in Blair. Go to Gibbon Jct.-it’s not to far from your place and you will see all the action your little o heart desires.

I keep telling him to come to Lincoln - which is a whole lot closer. Of course, he will have to settle for BNSF with only a couple of UP engines doing some switching, but…

Which leads to the comment - we have some old UP SD40’s that come into the yard every so often to bring local freight. They have to cross to public xings and when they blow the whistle, you don’t even have to see them to know they are the UP engines. They almost sound like they are apologizing when they whistle. It is so soft you can barely hear them. And it isn’t just one - there is a rotation of several and the lead engine always sounds that way. Do you suppose they muffled them?
