The web site of TRAINS announced within the last couple weeks that the Union Pacific will be running a steam powered excursion behind #844 out of Denver to Cheyenne, and return, on Saturday the 22nd of July. I am planning on flying out to Denver for a visit with some cousins of mine that week and would very much like to be able to photograph the 844 and her consist of passenger cars before she blasts out of Denver at 7:00 AM, Mountain time.
Is there anyone out there in the Denver area who can tell me what the exact location of the departure point is? I am not at all familiar with the U.P.'s operations in the Denver area and any information that any of you out there gan give me would be much appreciated. Thank you!
TRAINS Magazine had announced it in the January 16th edition of the News Wire. There was also a piece about it fairly recently in the Denver Post, but it would take me a while to track that down.
It is for Pioneer Days. I am going to snatch up some tickets as soon as they are available. Although I have lived in Colorado Springs for a year and a half, I regret to say I have not made it to Union Station myself. So yeah, what is the best way to get down there???
Oh! you mean the Cheyenne Frontier Days Special. Lived in Wyoming all my life never been to see Frontier Days. Glad to see the 844 will be out to stretch her legs, however I am sad that the 3985 won’t be out and about. Hopefully they will have a passenger escursion come this way next summer, I really wanna ride it.
