Union warns of strike against Canadian National
Let’s see if the Trainmen vote 98% to strike like last time!
Longer hours and less rest is a disaster waiting to happen!
Does this affect workers in the US?
Let’s see if the Canadian government screws them over the way they did to the CP workers back when they all went on strike last year.
It’s not wages, but Safety which is the issue. Given the disaster in Lac Megantic, it sounds like a legitimate reason to me. I also wonder if the Strike will extend to CN Personnel in the US?
CNI stock has been rising recently so evidently the market, at least so far, either doesn’t think there will be a work stoppage or if there is one, that it won’t have much of an impact on earnings.
Different bargaining unit in the U.S… There would be an effect in the States because of traffic handled between the U.S. And Canada.
Maybe the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference will merge with the Canadian Auto Workers and the Postal Service unions. They could, then, shut down the entire country in a heartbeat.
What are the longer hours and less time between trips? The statement from the CN representative is not complete. Do they have a 12 hour limit and is the CN talking about less time at their home terminal?
If it weren’t for the Union, train crews would work too much and safety would be sacrificed.
Will not matter. In Canada the rail unions get legislated back to work no matter which political party is in power
