Unit train on NS Chicago line

Currently in the Porter, In siding NS6780 with about 20-30 flatbed cars in the QTTX 131___ series (two cars are QTTX131335 and QTTX131457).

This westbound trains (probably dimensinal train) has unusual freight. Two “items” per car, each abougt 30 - 35 feet in length. Corner rounded, top and bottom, about 10 feet wide (wider than a container). These items roughly look like a container, but are not square. Rather, the items taper downward at one end. One end contains a rounded fabrication, about 8’ in diameter.

These are made of fabricated metal and have a row of rivets about 2 feet above the bottom. Markings are not on any of these items.

Any idea of what these are? Origin/destination, etc?

Are those heavy-duty flat cars, with 4 trucks/ 8-axles each ?

Perhaps the ‘‘nacelles’’ = generator housing for wind turbines ? See these couple photos for some examples -

These are similar to the nacelles shown, but a bit different.

The cars show a LD WT of 468600, LT WT of 161400. I never noticed the number of axles but it does appear to be 4 truck/ 8 axles.

Good call Paul.

It may be a screct Space ship from Area51 going to Dayton on a specal move…

Great… I didn’t know a single lowly pickup truck can cause an entire freight train to buckle and derail in spectacular fashion! The lessons of Hollywood!
