Unknown motorized crane's? Any one know who made these?

I just recently purchased a couple of motorized cranes on Ebay. Unfortunatly by the time they arrived they were in alot worse shape than these pictures. I am trying to find some info and pictures to use in reconstructing them. Any one know who made them?

Hi,

this is all regarding the bottom crane.

I can tell you for sure that the clam shovel is of German origin, and I believe so is the crane. I used to have a Maerklin train set and it had a crane (which they still produce) and for it I bought a clam shovel like yours. It was thirty years ago and my memory is can not recall who the manufacturer was. Also in a Marklin Magazine there was a layout at about the same time with your crane in it. I just got done checking Kibri, Vollmer, Faller and Brawa which to my knowledge are the major accessory producers for the model railroading market in Germany and none of them have either the bottom crane or the shovel anymore.

Hope it helps somewhat.

Frank

PS the connector pins are also typical of even current model railroad practices in Germany. Are there any markings on the bottom crane at all, maybe if you post that I can help.

The top one was made by Renwal Products Inc., Gantry Crane kit #461. I got mine in the late 60’s, maybe early 70’s. I have the 9 x14 construction sheets. Is there something you are particularly interested in? I could probably scan and send to you it in 1/2 pages. Let me know. Ken

The bottom crane is made by WIAD from germany, I have a kit still in the box unassembled, I’m not sure if the dirrections are there however, i could take a look

A follow-up. I did a Google on Renwal and came up with a TYCO collectors page that shows the exact same kit, even the same #. So, quite likely TYCO bought out Renwal. Ken
