Unwanted noise

Can anyone advice on how to stop motor noise in a Soundtraxx equipped P2k SD45. I have tried adjusting the PWM on CV9 but to no avail. It only occurs at very low speed but it can be heard well above the exhaust sound. Please help. PLS.

Not that you probably want to hear this…
Some engines will make noise regardless
of what you do to try to correct it. Most times
it is the flywheel or spinning sound the motor
itself makes. If you try to lube this, it may cause
problems with performance later on. If you have
heard a generator running,it sounds similar to
the fly motors in our models, just on a different
scale. Where this is annoying to you, it may have
to be left alone. Run the engine without the shell
and pinpoint where the noise is from. Try to lube
if possible in minute drops. If it does not correct,
let the engine be an engine,O K. !!

THankyou eastcoast for your input .
I have lubed the bearings lightly, but the noise is definitely coming from the motor more like a deep humming or buzzing noise, likes it’s running on half wave. It ran silently on D.C.before I fitted the decoder. PLS

Unfortunately those Soundtraxx decoders do not use “silent running” or “high frequency” on the motor drive circuit and will cause some types of motors to make a lot of buzzing noises. You can filter it somewhat at the expense of a slight drop in low-speed performance, or you can install a decent motor decoder in tandem and use that to run the motor and leave the Soundtraxx unit to handle just the sound.
Sountraxx also has sound-only decoders for use with another motor decoder. And I expect the new Tsunami decoders due out soon won’t have this problem either.
