Was working and stopped when I heard an odd sounding diesel horn. Miss Katy just rolled through Auburn (CA) heading towards Roseville with the Schneider trailer/containers. I thought I might not get to see some of the Heritage units from the more eastern roads.

I should have taken pictures when I pulled it out of the paint shop. Tied it onto WSOR 3808, f/k/a UP 1988.[8D] Was the only one of the Heritage units to not get tarped.
That had to have been an honor to get to pull those engines out of paint. Did you guys (@ the WSOR) draw straws to see who got to do it?
Not really. The yard job switches the shops, which includes the paint shop. The rest of the Heritage jobs were all tarped, just the brake wheel was exposed.

I am guessing that the train was heading to Oakland, which is a long way from Auburn (espicially driving on Interstate 80).
That would be my guess as well. I am wondering if its going to hang around or head back east? Would have gotten a pick but I was in an ariel lift and my phone was down on the ground. The train would have been gone by the time I was in position to take one. Photos don’t do it justice though. Hopefully others will get to see it.
