UP and BNSF AC power on NS

I find it amusing NS is using AC-traction pool power to haul it’s freight. BNSF #6184 and UP #7813 ES44ACs on the Hannibal Sub in Illinois.

The number of non-NS AC pool power on NS tracks probably outnumbers NS’s own roster of AC-traction SD80MACs and ES44ACs. The chance of spotting NS SD80MACs and ES44ACs in the midwest is nil since NS keeps it’s modest AC-traction roster out east.

Ive ran several NS and lots of bnsf and up units with AC traction motors. Not a whole lot of differance they whoa and go just like all the other engines.

When you consider the number of AC traction units in the BNSF and UP locomotives fleets its no surprise that you will find them in pool and/or run through service. NS has literally a handful of AC traction locomotives and they are kept in fairly captive service. No surprise.
