Now that is nice… really nice… I wonder how soon we’ll be seeing those come through Proviso Yard out here??? Awesome job… (Now, if only the BNSF would do some in old GN, NP, SP&S, and CB&Q… eh?)
BNSF doesn’t feel like trademarking their name and logo and all their heritage names and logos now.[;)][:p]
I hope BNSF does someday dedicate a few engines to their heritage just not the same reason UP is doing it.
They look nice but where does the light blue and the grey fit into the color schemes.??? [xx(]
Yes the UPRR lost a court case over rights & the judge said use it or lose it. [:p]

No because the BNSF doesn’t make it a big of a deal like the UP. No because the UP likes the Attion. Allan.
I really like the WP one with the way the feather seperated the two colors and all, but the MoPac one, well, I guess better luck next time. Who ever thought that those two colors of blue went together well, wasn’t thinking.

Thanks for the posting oskar.
Since former Missouri Pacific territory isn’t that far from me, I will have to be partial and appreciate their the new color scheme but; I really like the Western Pacific one the best.
Nice creativity from the painter’s booth. Good Job Union Pacific!!

Go figure, UP will waste money to paint 5 loco’s in Fallen flag Livery’s to get an even smaller amount in royalties off Model railroaders. Someone in their Accounting department must be pulling his hairs out that this, but their legal team is enjoying raking in the money off this, and the execs are just dumb as can be again.
I don’t think it’s just model railroaders UP has in mind - try tee-shirt logos, the badges and caps beloved of a percentage of railfans, and just about anything you might want to make with a fallen flag logo. Perhaps accounting is pulling out their hair but perhaps someone did a reasonable survey and figured there was sufficient money to be made. Regardless, I’d suspect that anything sporting one of the fallen flag logos will be fair game. As for enforcing it - most of those manufacturers are very small and they won’t be in any position to fight so they’ll either pay up or quit and the cost will be passed onto the consumer.
I agree. I surly don’t the BNSF and NS doing this foolishness. Now what is wrong with this Picture.
I don’t think the MP one is that bad. Didn’t the MP have a similar shade of light blue on its passenger units, and the darker one on its later freight units? I think it looks great, especially the eagle on the nose, better then those two white chevron things MP had.
The rear portion of the WP unit looks like UP left it in gray primer. It looks to be the same shade as the "gray ghost"NS units roaming the country, waiting to be painted[:(!].
They did a great job on these units. A new twist, to an old favorite![:D]
Stick around…UP will have them Wrecked in a week or two.
These monstrous paint jobs are abominations.
I wonder what the Rock Island will be like?
I have never seen any WP or MP in those colors. [:(!] If I’m wrong someone refresh my memory.
Don’t get me wrong, they look absolutely positively nice but if you are going to “heritage” paint schemes make them just like the original. If you gonna do something like this you might as well slapped Union Pacific on the side.
Of course I’m just a lowly railfan; [:(] they can do what ever they want with their locos.
Ususally I’m on here going against any UP bashing but sorry UP I don’t have your back this time.
Can’t wait to see MKT [:p][:o)]
I think I heard somewhere the UP will be doing CNW and SP units. Now from my standpoint and from a financial standpoint, wouldn’t it work out much better if the UP would just keep some of the existing CNW and SP units? I am happy that the UP is doing this but I would much rather see a CNW AC4400CW rolling down the line instead of a CNW SD70ACe which probably won’t be painted meeting the old CNW standards. The SD70ACes is a great move by the UP. However, keeping the units still in the original company colors would have more historical value as well as a better representation of the heritage.
