UP & CSX questions

Last wk I was gone on vac, taking a Amtrk trip to Washington DC for couple days. While on the trks, noticed a few things of interest which brings the following questions: 1. On the Southwest Chief a couple miles from Union Stn, we passed by a UP container yd. Which yd is this? 2. On the return trip on the Cardinal, I noticed Clifton Forge,VA is a CSX hub w/yd & such. What is the traffic count like through there? 3. Also on the Cardinal, coming into Chicago, between state line & 144th street, we passed by a UP yd and were on the UP for a short distance. I did not know UP went that far east in the Chicago area. Which yd was this (former C&EI)? Just curious, never know what you’ll discover out there.

  3. Yes, that’s Yard Center, on the former C&EI. CSX and UP operate jointly through there.
