UP E units

hey guys and gals, its been a while since ive posted with you all. but got a couple of new pics, first time ive been chasing in almost a year. boy it was nice getting out.

first, we got the UP executive E9’s through town, running a special down the old CNW Peoria sub to St. Louis, and back up the old SP line through Bloomington (dont remember what sub it is though)

Funny thing about them E units is that they have been repowered and reworked inside. They are now basically GP38-2s inside and E8/9s outside. [:0] [;)]

Why is the top of the nose painted green instead of gray?

And I hate how they put bondo on the noses to get rid of the nose door. Doesn’t look right. I understand the reasoning behind doing it (safety), but I’d of thought they could’ve secured the door somehow without marring it’s exterior (They took great pains to make the exterior look authentic during rebuilding in the 90’s, guess they don’t care now).

True, and I miss the second headlight up front. I think they were Gyralites but I liked them on the nose. [:D]
