Jim

21 cars. That’s one long passenger train.

I wish I was out in the wilds of southern Nevada with a tank full of gas, a pocket full of money and my video and still camera.

Miniwyo - Looks like it might be passing through your neck of the woods in the AM tomorrow. Hope you catch it!

Jim

i would love to see that long passenger train pulled by thsoe grand units!!!

DANGIT!!! I MISSED IT AGAIN!!!

Gotta quit this manual labor BS. Its getting in the way of my railfanning! [:)] I am sad that I missed it. hopefully they will come through on a freight before they get a foot of dirt stuck to them [:D]

Miniwyo,

Isn’t it the pits that work gets in the way of serious railfanning! I just can’t talk my wife into working full time, and also getting another part time job to support my serious railfanning!

Jim

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!

OMFG!!!

Report form the Wyoming Highway Patrol
Reports of Isolated railfan hysteria, followed by a 20 mile high speed chase of speeds topping 40 MPH in town with highway speeds of 75-95 MPH. 1 citation for speeding was issued.

Report from miniwyo:
So there I was, sitting out front of the train depot where the model railroad club meets, just then I hear a thundering sound, I look up and ther it was, in its Mopac an WP glory, for a split second the sound of those glorious units was drowned out by the sound of my jaw hitting the pavement. I was unable to move until it had passed, the the little man on my shoulder pulled out at 12oz claw hammer and hit me upside the head, and yelled “CHASE IT YOU DUMB%#@!!!” So I leaped in the truck and started it up, i flew around the corner and down the road to the interstate onramp. Passing cars left and right until i reached the frontage road exit which I zoomed down, Racing along the frontage road which paralels the tracks pacing it and passing it. But alas, that Highway patrolman put a stop to that as I was a few miles ahead of it. He was a diecent man however, letting me step out of the truck to watch it pass, as I prepard toi exit the truck for the runby, I proceeded to prepare my camera, when I discovered…

I HAD NO FILM!!! [banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead][banghead]

Something must have happened that delayed it, and I just caught it at the right time, Best $30 I ever spent when I pay that speeding ticket [:D] I chased her for 20 miles.

Note: The WHP report was made up, however I did recieve a speeding ticket while chasing her.

How far is that train going and is coming though Wisconsin at all if so can you tell me when and where [bow][bow][(-D][(-D]

Council Bluffs IA. apparently.

Miniwyo,

Ok, from now on, when I give you a heads-up, I’ll give you a check list of items that you must look at, before going out. Besides film in the camera, I’ll certainly add to the list this * when chasing, check rear view mirror for speed cops! Next, *make sure radar detecter is on and functioning!

[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Sorry about your mis-furtune within the good furtune! Better luck next time.

Jim

HEHEHEHEHE That cop came out of nowhere man, I didnt know he was ther until he turned on his siren. I need to buy me a radar dectetor so things like that dont happen again… It is so not like me to not have film, I had just finished a roll and didn’t look to see if I had any more, I just assumed that I did.

That film thing has happened to most of us at one time or another. My current boon head thing I’m doing is setting up a shot, then when the train comes, forgetting to turn on the camera![:D]

Jim

$30 for a speeding ticket?[:O] Man that’s cheap. I would have gave him a hundred and told him “here this ought to cover the next few miles too” and took off after the train again.[swg] My last ticket in California was just under $300.[banghead]

OK MiniWyo - When DID the train finally go through Rock Springs?

We were up the hill from the big plastic Budda (HWY 371 OP by the high school) from 12:30 till 3:00 waiting on that thing. Finally had to give up and head for home. We’ll have to settle for the photos we got at Green River. We know there were problems with the St. Louis Car Steam Generator Car at Green River. (and we can affirm the alarm bells on those units were LOUD!)

We should have seen the train the day before in southern Nevada where we were working, but the train was in excess of being 3 hours late through there.

Rock Springs going bigtime now, a WalMart and soon a Home Depot - WooHoo! Lunch at Chez-Wendy’s was a treat, watching all the biker types heading for Sturgis mingling with with the townies out for lunch. Strange, very strange.

[banghead][banghead][banghead]

I noticed it about 12:15-12:20 or so, headed east. Heck If I had know you were gonna be in this neck of the woods I would have tried to meet up with you! This time of year is always kind of strange, with sturgis, and it is also the week of the county fair. Plus all the charachters that come around on the construction crews.

Home Depot is opening on the 18th (still trying to get a job there) and we have had that big wal-mart for about 4 years now we used to have a smaller one in the end of the mall where that harley dealership and the movie theater is. This oilfield boom is really boosting the community and the county, we are almost at 25000 people now, making us the 3rd largest city in the state.

Chad- I was only doing 7 MPH over the limit at the time and I was wearing my seatbelt, that is why it was so cheap.

Geez: we were standing in line at Wendy’s when it went through Rock Springs![:I]

They had sooo much trouble with the train at Green River that we thought we had time. There was a red Excursion pulled over by the local gendarmes at the east exit on-ramp while we were there, so the local coffers were being replennished.

7Mph [:0] you madman you!!! they should have locked you up for such a crime. Just kidding. Our tickets might be spendy out here but at least we don’t have to worry about getting nailed for 7 over.[swg]

I’m lucky he caught me when I was doing 7 over, the limit on that road is 65, at some points I was pushing 90. that would have cost me about $80 or more. People speed all the time on that road and when they catch somone it tends to be pretty strict.
