UP files to abandon Mn branch?

Saw this on the trains news wire but don’t have a subscription. Anyone have a link?

It is 2 paragraphs about a 5.6 mile branch to Chaska. I’m sending it to you via PM.

It is a little piece of the old M&StL mainline from Merriam to Chaska that was taken out of service when a short trestle collapsed under a train last spring. Did anyone see how they went about picking up that wreck? Or have they yet? It sure looked like it would be a challenge, being right on the soft bank of the Minnesota River with some of the cars in the water.

Is that the derailment that isolated some cars and an engine?

Yep, here’s a link to one of the threads about this from a few months ago. Alot of the links in that thread are still good.

The complete abandonment application is on the STB website (STB.DOT.GOV). I don’t have the full docket number but, if you enter “AB-33” in the search screen in the “filings” section, the application entry will pop up.
