This is in regards to the (UP) Big boy UP 4023 & UP 6900 Centennal DDA40X.
You had me thinking it was going to be 844 and 3985!

to simplify the above navigation. (At least I think this is the story BNSF means)
Anybody know what will be involved in moving the two locomotives – will it be as interesting as moving the Santa Fe 4-8-4 to IRM?
…and all this time we thought they were moving into Mookie & Driver’s back yard![:D]
signing off for a few days whilst moving crosstown…

Thank you overmod!
I think they should have a large model UP layout as an added attraction.
(Just no Athearn and Lionel products probably)
Oh god I hope your right junctionfan[:)]
wonder how they’ll move them…will they lay temp rail for this? A centennial is a little big for a truck…
That’s what they did when they first moved them, and no a centennial is NOT too big for trucks, they moved a northern down the interstate a couple years earlier, and that’s no easy task, it could be done by truck, but I’ll bet it’s temproary rail.
maybe if Omaha is smart they’ll use the excuse to build real street trackage and start a trolley line…oh how quaint. Now, I know that’s a bit fanciful. It is a bit of railroad revenge…when a train goes down the road and they have to clear the road for miles around…good times.
I think they tried to put in a trolley, but where they wanted to put it - NIMBY! We are not a good state for thinking things through. We come up with impossible situations and can’t figure out why the people don’t want to pay for it!
BUT - I am excited. This will be even closer to Mookie! Now we can go to the zoo and the train all at the same time. And stop to smell the flowers, too! [:D]
It sounds good. I can’t visualize the site, though–I must have had my eyes on the road or something when we arrived at Omaha this spring. I’ll bet that won’t happen again!
BC - it is right there between that and that! Plus, they say you will be able to see it from the interstate - the drawing has them both up pretty high and at almost a 90 degree angle (listen to the engineer, here) to each other. Very nice. Any excuse for another visit to Nebraska!
