IMO, not ugly at all! They aren’t really the exact scheme, but I think they made them cooler. What do you think? (If you’re gonna bash UP you may as well not post)

E for effort, couldn’t they at least make a vain effort to be historically accurate as to colors? I agree, so far the MoPac is the sharpest of the bunch.

I like the WP, but it will take a while to get used to the MoPac.

I would have to say that I like the way the units look. UP hasen’t done many positive things of late, and I know the paint may not be 100% historically correct, but at least they are making an attempt to do something good. UP has a wonderfull heritage, and it is nice to see them embrace it, and not shy away from it as they have been doing. Just my [2c] worth… I could be wrong! [:)]

The WP unit is very well done. The only thing I would like to see them change is the grey on the rear of the hood to silver.

I have to back up the comments of quite a few people. The WP unit looks awesome. The MoPac unit, I dunno about that one. I don’t think it’s going to grow on me at all. I don’t know what they were thinking when they designed the two colors together, they just don’t work.

I’m afraid about the rest of the units. I just hope they work out better like the WP unit. Apparently a few of them are currently in the paint shop, being painted for unvailing.

I like the WP unit the MP unit needs more of the dark blue. I am anxious to see what the others will look like.

being a HUGE UP fan, i gotta say i still like the armour yellow the best. but i think its pretty cool they are doing the herritage colors. the WP is my fav of the two. i"m also a BIG CNW fan,cant wait to see what that will look like!

Color me cynical, but I seriously doubt this has anything at all with UP wanting to do something “good”.

I think it really has more to do with bolstering their argument re:licensing the fallen flag trademarks.

They did the same thing in applying the old DRGW and SSW heralds to two freight cars awhile back.

If that qualifies as UP-bashing, well… too bad. But I think it’s a little closer to the truth when it comes to explaining their motivation for this.
