does anybody know the status of UP haritage units answeres would be much apprieciated.
Judging from the many photos at www.railpictures.net , I would guess they are scattered about the countryside in regular freight service.

check www. locotrace.net web site…it should tell you where they are w/in the last 24 hours
CN&W heritage has been running up and down the Belvidere, IL line now for a few weeks.
UP tries to keep the units on the home road’s area. So, most of the time, they dont wander to far. But, they do get around from time to time so there is hope.
Also, I have heard from a few people that UP plan’s on keeping them for 10 years. By which time, the figure the paint will be pretty beat up and faded so they will pull them and re=paint back to yellow.
Then again, I never heard from a person who get’s a UP paycheck and 10 years is alot of time. Who knows how long they will be around
This web site is “under construction” and thus not available at this time.
except 1995 never comes to Altoona. looks like they arent trying hard enough
UP 1988 was interchanged with the IC (I refuse to call it CN) at Kinmundy, IL on Christmas Eve. I wonder where on the CN is it going.
This came off the UP at Kimmundy, IL as UP symbol MNLTT. It runs
through on CN to Toronto, UP power is usually removed at Chicago.
This site worked for me: http://www.drgw.net/locotrace/newtrace.php?s=unit
Lately when I go to use the locotrace page, It tells me that the destination city is not visible… How aobut oyu guys?
I saw that as well the other night,it may have something to do with not being assigned or its a trailing unit maybe,Dont know for sure…
Speaking of the UP Heritage units, someone should replace the Nathan K5LLA horn with the older Nathan P3 horn just to give the locomotive the “authentic” SP experience (SP standardized on the P3 horn for many years).
Speaking of Heritages, UP 1988 was on NS train #223 on the NS St. Louis District/NS Illinois Division today heading East. It passed through Belleville, Il at about 9:40 a.m. and arrived at Princeton, IN at 5:00 p.m. waiting for a crew.
Update: NS #223 arrived at Louisville KY around 930pm. Crews are short right now, so dont look for them to get out of Louisville before 2am or maybe a little later. Add that with line of road work to do and several trains to meet and it could be a good daylight run across the Eastern part of the Louisville district and most of the CNO&TP on Saturday.
NS #223 Kansas City, MO - Atlanta, GA - Eastbound Intermodal
PLEASE, keep me posted on the where abouts of this locomotive. I live on the piedmont division and this could be my chance to finally see a Heritage unit. Hopefully it will head a 200 series from ATL. to the Carolinas or N.J…
Update: Train #223 is reported to be in Danville, KY at 12:00 noon Central Time.
Southbound NS hotshot trains #215 and #229 are by Lexington, KY. In addition, there are approximately 8 southbound trains waiting to depart Danville, and two additional southbound will be coming off of the Louisville district.
Update: A crew should now be on duty for 223 in Danville. It’s looking like the train will not arrive in Oakdale during the daylight hours.
This train should be a good catch for the Georgia Div. Sunday morning.
Does this train go through Chattanooga, TN?
Update: NS 223 is about 20 mins away from the crew change in Chattanooga as of 9:40 p.m.
I haven’t see them in Austin, TX[#ditto]
Have they reached ATL. yet?
