I think it would be cool that a UP heritage SD70ACe meets or even shares couplers with an NS heritage ES44AC or SD70ACe the next time a UP heritage unit wonders out east in pool service.
Or vise versa, an NS heritage unit could make it out west into UP territory.
I’ve even gone so far as to encourge an all heritage show for NS and UP and anybody else who has one at St. Louis or KC or Chicago! The only thing expected to be missing is Kodak film!
Only at a major yard, think Proviso or Clearing. I remember when TRAINS did its portrait of Bicentennial locomotives, JDI commented on the time and effort required to put together a good series of photos, and that was with only about 10 locomotives.
As I said Zug…all of them…the more the merrier! Place: Proviso, Clearing, any where anybody wants to host it…As long as we’re wild here, how about clearing all the trees and lining them up on Horseshoe Curve or the like? (Can you see the photogs saying, “RDG, could you change places with the Erie? Lehigh, over here next to the PRR unit. And…”. ) Well, it would be a great photo op anyway, it could bring publicity to railroads and could even be done for donating to a charity or for all rail preservation or historical societies. It could be HHHHUUUUUUGGGGGGEEEE!
Better Place and it does not see to much traffic and is still Connected to the Nationwide system. How about say Tennesee Pass maybe Techaphi Loop for one shot all 28 in a Light Engine Movement with the SP unit Leading.
Let’s keep this going…the more we talk about it, the more ideas and locations that are proposed, the more likely somebody who can do something about it…like Kalmbach, Simmons-Boardman (?), the AAR, or the railroads themselves, might take heart and actually do it! How about the yard at Steamtown with view from the walkway up to the Mall? Or across Tunkhannock Viaduct…there’s got to be loads of broad shot sites in the East, Midwest, and West! Just all have to be pre-Conrail, pre Amtrak days…
