Near milepost 544 on the Toya sub near Stanton, Texas on Sunday I caught this train temporarily revealed in the midst of a duststorm. The wind noise obscured the train noise and the dust was too thick to get a shot of the DP (2 units).

Puts me in mind of a similar photo published in Trains more than fifty years ago - a NYC Niagara looming up out of a blizzard.

Trains are the only form of transportation that can run reliably in extremely poor visibility.

Chuck, that is exactly what it seemed like – LOOMING. Couldn’t hear it coming, the dust thinned a second, and here it came. It wasn’t a good day to try to get across the tracks with just a crossbuck and six feet visibility.
