Athearn has announced the Veranda for the standard line! YES! Now to find money for a tubine.
Athearn displayed the prototype model at the Western Prototype Modelers Convention in San Bernadino last week.
It looks pretty nice so if it’s on par with the last offering, it’ll sell real well.
Here’s a link that is loaded with pics from the show and showing Athearn’s table with the turbine:

Walthers is also releasing a new line of DD40s. My friend and I are saving up to jointly buy one.
Do you mean Walthers will be making a Proto series DD40? Or do you mean the new line of Bachmann DD40s?
Oooo, good question. I honestly don’t know, I’ll have to check.
checks
I think it’s the new line of Bachmann DD40s. They’re coming out on Monday. I just found them in the 2010 Walthers HO guide, so I went on the website to check it out and it said they were coming out Monday.

That is cool news! Though I don’t model UP, the Verandas were very handsome looking units. Now…if Athearn or Walthers decide to produce a GE U50 BB they will have my full attention (and possibly some of the contents of my paycheck)

GE U50 BB
Mr. Know-it-all (that would be me) says they will. The big question (for Mr. Know-it-all) is whether they’ll also do the Alco Century A’s and B.
Ed (Mr. Know-it-all)(who will also be picking up a U50)(or two???)
