I grew up in Omaha but the family moved away in 1966. I remember seeing 4023 near the UP shops on a trip back in the late 1970s. How long had 4023 been displayed at the old Union Station before it was moved to its current home. Also, I am not familiar with Kenefick Park. If I remember right, the park near the Omaha Zoo was known as Riverview Park then, right on the banks of the Missouri and next to Rosenblatt Stadium. Is this the same park with a new name?
The Omaha Zoo and Rosenblatt Stadium is on the south side of I-80, where the trains sit is on the North side of I-80 and they are closer to over look the missiour river and I-80, when you come in from Iowa to Nebraska you see them from the I-80 on top of the hill…
Yes, the pictures of the move of each of the locomotives is quite fascinating in and of itself. Someone posted them a couple of years ago on the forum. Supposedly, the trailer moving the Big Boy either blew a tire or an axle - I can’t remember which.

Yes the big boy broken a axel on the BNSF tracks and they had to shut BNSF trains down, it shows the pictuers in the big boy. I and my wife went out to park and it was pretty cool to look close up… I have some pictures from my cell ph will post it on web page when I am done with a COLD!!!
Was the Big Boy on display in Council Bluffs before the move? I’ve been looking for those locos in their new home on Google Earth, but the imagery doesn’t appear to be current enough.
Yes and no, there is other big boy but I not sure if it is the other same big boy, yeah it is a UP too, the one that was running show in Council bluffs last year 2005 was on show and its house is in the WY. UP yard. That show boy was total repaired ground up in WY… I don’t know where in WY its be keep. Hopefull it comes out again.
