Extra…Extra…Read all about it! UP sues Photographer (and his Mom!)
Hot off of the Model Railroad News presses comes this tidbit of information in Volume 11, Issue 8 - August 2005, page 34.
I’ll have to let you read it for yourselves, but I do agree with the author’s last sentence…“Frankly, it would have been cheaper and more effective if UP had simply purchased the entire run, sold them as railfan memorabilia, and turned a tidy profit on a dandy product.”
And another great quote from the same article…“Maybe the rest of the railroad should sue the legal deptment for defamation of character.”
Can you at least post some kind of summation of the story without indulging in plagiarism? It sounds interesting, but not enough to effect my purchase of an extra magazine.
That is why I hate the UP so much. Look how they treat Woman nowadays. Woman get no respect at all. UP is so Power hungry it’s not funny. Someday their gona pay a dear price. Allan.
If I could I would. I was just waiting for this reply to rear its head.
You could go to your local hobby shop and peruse a copy.
For the rest of you that don’t want to fight the heat;
A man is selling a calendar with photos of UP and one of SP stuff. UP doesn’t like it and has decided to sue the guy.
Tom - I really wish Lincoln would make the paper because they discovered the gene to end old age or how to have peace in the world! I agree with the ruling (would you expect less from a female) but couldn’t they have had dateline Omaha!
If you get caught taking Photo’s of UP trains your gona need a permit. If you don’t have one. The the UP has a right to sue you. I can see it now in the News. UP sue’s Railfans across this country for violating their anti-trust logo while Photographing of there Trains.
LOL! I can just see it now. Allan. LOL LOL LOL!
UP probably has a whole team of “investigators” ready to go at a moments notice,tracking down down all these “transgressions” and infringements.
“ALERT,ALERT! Unlicensed shield in Sam Smith’s house! All teams converge!”
I had better be careful. I might accidently take a picture of UP equipment on the local CSX line, knowing that CSX is using quite a bit of UP’s motive power. Thanks for the warning there. I hope CSX doesn’t do the same, that’s just what I need, two permits to photograph one railroad…[:p]
