which railroad is bigger, Union Pacific or BNSF ? Thanks !
I think its the UP but not sure.BTW yes the Rock does rule! Do you ever get to see the AOK units painted in the R&Y scheme?
Oh dear - hide the football - a sooner is loose!
I would think UP is bigger. Consider that they own SP ,CNW, and other railroads bought by UP. Where as BNSF owns BN and ATSF-had they merged with CN, than UP would be smaller.
BNSF:
33000 Route Miles
5000 locomotives
190000 freight cars
UP:
32838 Route Miles
7861 Locomotives
87497 freight cars

Well it looks like I’m wrong…not the first time that’s happened.
BNSF and UP both are great roads and share the Rochelle diamonds in fine fashion, both are very, very great roads to railfan.
It’s close, but the UP is slightly larger
Yeah I found pics of AOK units . Thanks ya’ll !
(BOTH)
UP and BNSF are great railroads!
Almost indentical route miles, BNSF with 63% of the locomotives that UP has but UP had the traffic meltdown. Humm.
