Soomebody needs to proof read their copy. Deer Trail and on out to the KS border is old Kansas Pacific/ Union Pacific. CRIP, Limon to the KS border (north of the KP/UP line) is RailAmerica’s Kyle RR.
UP now has an interest (purchased) in DRIR’s former Rock Island Belt Line (Belt Jcn to Sandown, 4.2 miles on the NE Side of Denver, built 1952 to connect to DRGW’s North Yard and avoid downtown Denver with freight traffic.) …Nothing happening there (yet).
UP has already begun this project with several grade crossings already complete and more underway. This could not come a moment too soon as this is the line that saw the bridge collapse in Northbrook with the derailment and death of an elderly couple.
Kudo’s to Union Pacific for continueing to invest and upgrade in an uncertain economic enviroment!
That track was the Kansas Pacific, always U.P. The ex CRI&P track is from Limon, Co east into Kansas.
Just a heads up - this is NOT former Rock Island trackage, it was originally Kansas Pacific track.
How much of the budgeted money is being provided by the mis-guided in Washington, DC for the ultimate benefit of the UP?
If nothing else grade crossings are on a cost sharing basis between State, Federal, and the railroads funds.
