I’m not at all sure if this place has been brought up here before. I went to a burger joint in Cali and it was an old UP car. I am sure some of you know about it. If not try this link www.carneytrain.com
Neat and very cool. [8D]
I remember seeing a “Train” restaurant in Springfield, Missouri, when I was little. I think it is long gone now. [:(]
Interesting, I wonder how many more train restaurants are still around?
Nope, did not know about it. But is a very cool and neat idea!! Wish we had one here
in our area. Of course, it would have to be an old L&N diner car, since we are in
Louisville. Then they could have one in Nashville. (Come on in, Boxcar Willie!!)
Of course, if Boxcar Willie did come in, it would have to be his ghost: and then,
that would probably be if they had a diner car restaurant in Branson, MO.
Carney’s used to advertise on the radio here (Los Angeles) in the 70s. Glad to see it’s still around.
The McDonald’s in Barstow uses some railroad cars and a railroad theme. (What better town to have that).
There is also a restaurant in Torrance (20 mi. south of L.A.), now a Seafood Broiler, that uses a caboose. Looks like a UP center-cupola model. When built in the 70s the restaurant was a Victoria Station.
Restaurant at the San Juan Capistrano “station” on the BNSF Surf Line also uses RR cars.
I’d love to have one of those in my town. Till then I’ll go to McDonalds, then take my food to the tracks, and watch the trains roll by.
