UP RSC-2 leghtwise exaust stack question

Hi

I have seen proto1000 RSC-2 UP have a legthwisw exhaust stack

Anybody has any idea when this locos 1282 1286 were converted to watercooled turbocharger ?

Looking at pages 44 and 45 of Ed Austin’s “Union Pacific Diesels in Color, Volume One” (Ed, it’s time for Volume Two!!!), 1281 is shown in 1965 and 1966 with a lengthwise stack. With crosswise stacks: 1283 in 1966, 1286 in 1967, 1288 in 1956, 1289 in 1961.

They were renumbered from their 11xx numbers in 1955 and traded in between 1969 and 1971.

It looks like they were converted on need bases by looking at the variations in time Do you have any info about loco 1282 ?
