UP seeks return of overpaid pension tax funds

Whew!
Breathless.
Except that “the railroad says” having to do with when this happened, the article declares that “the railroad mistakenly paid taxes” on $75 million of employe wages, some of those wages were what I earned…this missive, though, is about what the statement says about UP wage/tax/accounting people…it says they’re doofus(sp), at best.
TRAINS said the “railroad mistakenly”
Except for that “the railroad says,” phrase concerning time-span, were I in the UP Financials Depts, to a lawyer I’d write LIBEL.
Attribute, ATTRIBUTE, ATTRIBUTE!!!

So, UP is attempting to go back over twenty years and recover its own accounting mistakes. When folks in the 90’s said that UP was a poorly-run railroad, they had it correct. We can only wonder how many retired railroaders have had their RRRA benefits calculated on the taxes paid in, and how many might have to see their benefits reduced due to UP errors. After all this time, there should be a statute of limitations that stops this in its, ahem, tracks. If it took UP from 1991 (or 2007 if you insist) to catch this mistake, it is just “too late baby.”
