It looks like CWR is laying down along the single track line south of the town I live in (Stillwater). Does anyone know when the track will be relayed? I sure would love to see one of those machines in operation. The coal trains going to the King power plant will be quieter.
If you’re looking for one of those track-rebuilding machines like the TRT-909, don’t hold your breath. Having said that, it will still be an impressive thing to watch.
Even more impressive, though, will be the tie gang that follows these guys (I suspect they will, anyway, especially if you see a lot of ties placed along the track the same way the rail is now). There are a lot more steps to that operation.
As for the trains, being quieter, maybe…maybe not. The noise of the rail joints will no longer be there to mask the flat spots on the wheels. So, although one source of noise is being eliminated, the trains shjouldn’t be able to sneak up on you yet.
