UP Streamliner Help

Hi, I just received the first 2 (of 10) Walthers City Series passenger cars for the UP City of Los Angeles. I have the Pullman 4-4-2 sleeper “Imperial Series” car and the Pullman 11 Double Bedroom “Placid Series” car. Both cars come with a set of decals that have the names and car numbers you can apply your self. What I don’t know is where to place the names and numbers on the cars. I cannot find any photos on line. Any ideas from you UP experts out there? My last resort would be to buy one of the UP passenger train books and hope they have these listed along with some photos. Thanks. JRP “Great Southwest and Pacific Railroad”

This should have all of the names/numbers you need…

Jim

In addition to the info Jim mentions, consider the following:

The car names OR car numbers are centered horizontally on the side and are centered vertically between the bottom of the windows and top of the lower red stripe.

Exceptions:

On dome cars, the numbers are horizontally centered over EACH truck (total of TWO on each side).

On the Budd 10-6, the name goes on the obvious “metal” plate on the side

On the baggage, the number is placed in the vertical position to match the location on the cars mentioned earlier.

Thanks guys. I have since learned that the Pullman cars had names only (ie: “Placid Lake” or “Imperial Palm”). The coach cars all had 4 digit numbers, but no names. The Dome cars could have both, but it would depend on what type of Dome (ie: diner, observation, etc.) And your are correct, the numbers or names for most cars were placed between the bottom of the windows and the top of the lower red line, and center in the car.
