UP to corral heritage fleet in North Platte this month

Wow that would be awesome to see them all together , It would be nice to see them all in Sacramento on the 29th and 30th of September !! Love their heritage units!!

Imatation is the best form of flattery. UP had heritage units first, but NS showed them how they should look, and now NS showed UP hoe to throw a party and now UP is going to try it. I wish I could go. All is good with railroads these days.

The heritage fleet war between NS and UP is on! What’s not to like?

North Platte, Nebraska is proud to be honored by the UP in hosting this incredible gathering.

Congratulations on an incredible 150 year journey.

Too bad Trains has not given as many props to UP Fleet as it has NS’s units. Maybe UP needs to do a few more for SSW, T&P, C&EI, CGW, PER, S&S I, just to name a few. If they wanted to paint a locomotive for all the “Fallen Flags” that number could get quite extensive…

As long as Jim Wrinn, a southerner, is editor of Trains, UP will never get a fair shake.

See you all on the Weekend.

See you all on the Weekend.

I am anxious to attend the North Platte gathering this weekend - now let’s convince BNSF to “go Heritage” with retro-painted units honoring AT&SF, BN, CB&Q, C&S, FW&D, FRISCO, GN, NP, and SP&S…

then we’ll work on CSX.

Just spent some time with their 844 this last weekend (and saw the gasoline train too). Anyone who has not seen this magnificent piece of machinery should make the trip. The heritage units are just a bonus so far as I can tell

I tend to agree with Vince Saunder’s… His historical background on UP might actually serve notice. On one hand, it was nice Union Pacific honored the “major flags” they merged. And it might serve good publicity to leave the units in the present color schemes, as I’m sure NS plans to. Although considered expensive, it might be nice to honor some of the lesser fallen flags, although maybe… not every little one. Still…

A bit more prior notice would have been appreciated for those of us who don’t live out west and can’t get out there on such short notice.
