UP Wrecks SD70ACe Demo GM 72

You can tell it not a G.E. even from the wierd angles… It didn’t catch on fire!!!

UP isn’t doing so hot. I can’t wait to find out what’s next.

How exactly did they manage that one?

Let’s play “GUESS THE CAUSE”.

It almost looks like those units were DPU’s that kept pushing into the original derailment.

I didnt know there was a ford vs chevy dispute. i guess number 2 and 3 must fight about something cause dodge rules!!! but in engines nothing GE makes can keep up with a EMD. i had to drag a train and its 4 dead GE dash-9 engines in yesterday with my 1 sd70. I guess they thought they had enough engines to make it 50 miles but they was wrong again.

As far as that picture That must have been one of those lousy engineers on a fast engine. who steered left instead of right.

and for the engineer who cant get a train across the road with out tearing it up we give you GE.

There is word spreading around other sites that the part of a computer failed in the SD70ACe and reversed it. When the crew noticed this they put the emergincy brake on, derailing the train. the is yet to be proff of this, but when the wrecking crew came, the loco wanted to only reverse, and the emergency break was on (not sure where is is from, but it was a UP worker, so i kinda trust it).

Unfortunately the only saying that is truly appropriate…

Derailments Happen!

Have rode in both EMDs and GEs for UP, and the GEs are junk you can hardy stay in the seat on a AC4400 and the SD9043MACs, SD70Ms rode like a dream as did the 25 year old SD40-2s.
PS-Dodge had to merge to stay afloat and FORD and GM have not !!!

GOES TO SHOW JUST HOW MUCH GE’S REALY ARE JUNK…HEHE.
OH UPMODELER1,YOUR VERY RIGHT ABOUT FORDS,FORDS DO SUCK BECAUSE I HAVE ONE.
BNSFfan.

Man, I can hear UP say, “Uh, EMD we have a uh, problem my ACe has left the tracks…” EMD say “WELL IF YOU BROKE IT YOU FIX IT!”

[#oops] And I bet the conductor is saying, [#wstupid]

It would appear that we have successfully created our first field test derailment! Now, do those EMD/SuperSteel doors and body components hold up as well as we thought?

Is the unit Hulcherproof? … Invite those joe-bob characters to the party and more track and equipment is sure to be destroyed?

PANEL PARTY on the Gunnison River!

Doubt very seriously that the unit went into reverse, even with a computer failure.
Had that thing somehow reversed, the crew would have had no need to big hole the train, it would have done so all by itself, and quite nicely.
Looks more like the outside rail rolled out from under the cars.
Of course the emergency brake was on, the train line was broken, and with no one in the cab to reset it, and the unit shut down, it would stay way until some one figured out a way to pump the brakes back up and release it.

Lets see how “Wreck crew” proof EMD can build them.
My bet is Hulcher does more damage picking it up than what occured when it fell over.

A GE locomotive must have brainwashed that EMD.

i agree with ed… this werck was a track thing not the 70ace goin into reverse. Theres no way emd would let something like that go without a failsafe. UP’s maint. is what caused this, too many coal trains not enough up keep. It happens alot where im at. Seems like these guys are always putting one on the ground.

A GE locomotive must have brainwashed that EMD.
OOOK…ID SURE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THAT ONE PLAYOUT. OH BOY.
[bow]BNSF[bow]

i don’t understand how half the train and the head end are in the ravine, and the secondary unit is still calmley sitting on the tracks, with half its wheels on. So confusing

No more desecrated than SP never washing it. [:D] Sorry, couldn’t resist. I know all that grime is the charm of SP. Whoops, I did it again. I’m sorry. [:o)]

That is not the case a engine can have a problem and go into reverse . we had a Ge unit do some weird things it had 4 motors in power ( while in power) and 2 motors in dynamic. burned up the traction motors. another engine did just what happened here 3 pulling and the other was reversed. new enginees wire from factory wrong and the mu plug. i have had a new sd70s lose its programming and not even know it was a computor for a engine it showed its series number and nothing on the engine worked including fuel pump. as far as causing the derailment i would think it is track also.

In a derailment you cant say this or that should have happended on a derailment i was working cars was everywhere some standing where rail should have been (22-23 cars) all others out in a field some engines stayed on the raill some didnt.

Folks, i went straight to the" UP Operating Jargon Handbook and Yummy Recipe [for those on the move ]Guide" and discovered that when UP gets a demo unit, it’s not demo as in DEMOnstrator unit,it is, in fact , a DEMOlition derby unit.
See, it’s all in the fine print.

Wabsah,
You expected anything less from a GE unit?[:D]
