Well today I had to go to a hearing. I got to meet with the parents. One of them (the girls mother & father) apoligized at least 20 times to me. He told me to continue with prosecuting her so she would learn a lession. She has been in a lot of trouble before, but has really never been caught. Now the Mother & Father of the 2 other boys wanted me dead. He was rude and cursed at me every chance he could get. He basically said it was MY fault that I had them over and told them what I had in the sence of expensive trains. He said I was baiting them in. I couldn’t believe it. Well they were both told to leave the room. I plan on going full out and hopeing they get what they deserve. Man it’s a shame how people can turn things around. I am still not able to get my stuff back yet. But I can feel easy that it’s well taken care of. They also said they didn’t take the stuff for drugs, they wanted to do it because of the rush.
It’s unfortunate that no one takes responability for what they do anymore. It’s allways some one elses fault. What a lovely lesson the parents of the two boys are teaching them. Hope you get your stuff back and undamaged.

I was at Wally World in the model isle and some little tagger vandle picked up a can of Testors red and started spraying the shelves and RC car boxes on the shelves. (about 7 years old.) I yelled at the brat to knock it off! His dad came around the corner to see what was going on.I told him “look what your kids doing!” He gave me a nasty look and told me to mind my own [censored][censored] business. Took his little angle by the hand and walked away. Now who’s going to buy all that RC stuff with red paint all over it.
Be careful about getting your stuff back.I’ve heard horror stories from people about cops keeping their stuff after the trial. They put it up for sale and you have to buy it back to pay for their time.
What kind of little thugs and worthless citizens are these boys destined to be with parents like that? I feel greatly for the parents of the girl, I have a 23 yr old in self destruct mode right now. You don’t want them to suffer and get hurt, but in your heart you know that they have to go through it to hopefully hit bottom and come up the other side a better person. Good luck to you in the process. With any luck it will actually help these young people before they do anything really bad.
If the boys are under 18, many states will hold the parents responsible for the kids actions, and I’ve even heard of cases of the parents being jailed and/or fined!! The girls parents have the right idea & I can sympathize with them. The boys parents, on the other hand, deserve a good kick in the butt!! Those boys probably got some of their bad habits from their parents judging by their reaction to you. Too bad they don’t live in Hong Kong or Saudi Arabia - the punishment there would be more fitting for them!!
The reaction of the parents of the two boys says it all. Nothing is the fault of their kids. I’d bet anything they have doing that their whole lives and now see what kind of model citizens they turned out to be. Hopefully the courts will do what their parents have so far failed at miserably. The boys need to be taught that actions have consequences and hopefully that will mean jail time. Then they will learn that mommy and daddy aren’t always going to be there to cover for them. They’ll grow up in a hurry when they find out what it is like behind bars.
PS. I hope the parents have to shell out a ton of money for the lawyers. Then maybe they’ll learn a bitter lesson too.

It makes me sick sometimes to see what kind of parents some people are. They think their kids can do no wrong! And if they do, well, it’s somebody elses fault. These people need to get their heads out of their butts and raise their kids right, or the government will see that somebody else raises them right.
You should have told the boys parents that their kids wouldn’t be in trouble if they were raised right.
I have a baaad feeling about Dad and his little chillen. I fear you haven’t heard the last of them. Time to visit the pound.
I don’t see how the police can retain your property unless State laws allow for them to sell it to recover costs. I guess they can live off the avails of crime, not you. I’d still find a good lawyer and have the police chief charged with possession and the sale of stolen property. Or, have your insurance company do it on your behalf when you file the claim for the outright loss. It’ll all be in the police incident report.
I’m 14 years old. I’m a freshman in high school. Bravo to all you guys have said. Some of my childhood friends have chosen the drugs and drinking and stealing path, and it makes me sick. I can’t STAND kids who do stuff like that, but yet, I was friends with many of them before they took that path. It’s just sad…and those parents deserve a great butt whipping of their own! Thank god the girl has righteous parents.
Derrick, thanks for posting. Some of us older Dad’s need to see comments like yours occasionally. It takes courage to stand for something that is right. I admire you greatly that at your age you recognize this. I have no doubt you will be tested many times. Stay true to your values and make your parents and the rest of us proud of your generation.
I say this and hope that girl reads this:
Outstanding Parents! Maybe one day the Girl will have a good future. But today is the day at Court and as such punishment needs to be meted out. But to the Girl, if she puts this behind her and makes a good life, then indeed we all will cheer.
Now for the Boys’s Parents:
Shame on ye. Shame. The boys? Let em cook on the Judge’s Bench for all you care. They will only learn by example. Yours. What a waste!
If I was the one taking this bunch to court and hear and experience that bad treatment, it would only harden my heart and resolve to fill that cup of punishment to overflowing and show no mercy.
The girl maybe has a fighting chance, but the boys? Let em fry, maybe the parents will get some quality time away and have peace enough to think on thier bad behavior and be sorry for it.
Oh by the way, tell them critters to never mind the rush. They will have oppertunity enough in life to get some action for that “Rush” Maybe we should turn the whole family over to the United States Marines for some Boot Cleaning.
One other thing: Klickymobster, you are going to be somebody one day if you hold onto those values. Dont worry about them, concentrate on keeping a clean side up and the dirty side down as we would say on the big road.

No, you know what? Don’t interact with the parents of the boys at all. Let Dad and his big mouth dig himself into a big old hole for the judge. You’ve already got the high ground; keep it by not letting big-mouth Dad get your goat.
Trust me, I’m sure that judge has already had his fill of kids with no sense of right and wrong and parents who won’t take responsibility for their kids. These two might just be the example the judge is looking to make out of someone.
A lot of parents out there now a days take up for their brats no matter what they’ve done, and if they can, will try and twist things to make it look like it was your fault for putting temptation under their noses like you said…
I was talking to a kid (teenager) a while back about how I would like to build a concrete house with heavy steel doors and bullet proof glass that couldn’t be broken into or damaged by any kind of a storm or fire. He replied that if he want to rob me that he would just hide and wait for me to get out of my car. I said yeah, but what if I had a gun. He responded, then I guess one of us would just have to die… I hope this isn’t the attitude of the majority of young people out there today.

Death is a concept that is very irrevelant. If it was possible to get killed doing something stupid and be brought back to life for another shot at the stunt… they would do it.
I was taking a sweep of a youtube a while back where a kid became a gravity propelled ballistic object and smahed onto the concrete face first. He was injured pretty badly and hearing the hoots and cheers of his friends… well they are not friends. I dislike the attitude exhibited by some young folk today.
I agree it’s best to keep quiet and let the mouthy turd burn in front of the Judge. It is tempting to settle it on the steps of the Courthouse but you must not do it Turbine. It will all workout in good time.
I dont know where you heard that the cops sell your stuff. I have been an officer for over 11 years and have yet to see that. It is called evidence and it can be released by the District Attorney when the case is closed, then it goes back to the owner.

In the movie Heavy Metal, the police charged people a fee to investigate crimes. In other words, if you didn’t have the money to pay for an investigation, too bad. It would just have to go unsolved… I wonder if it will ever actually come to that one day ?.

First off, thanks for being a cop. I’m sure there are times when it is one of the most thankless jobs out there but I’m also sure there have been times when in a single day you get more self-satisfaction than most of us do in a lifetime. In any event - I appreciate it, and I’m sure others do to.
During my years of practice as an attorney (previous life) I have never heard a substantiated story of a police department forcing a person to buy back their property after a trial. Most of the time what i hear is the police trying again and again to get the owners to come get their property and free up space in the evidence area. Loathar, please fill us in because if such thing is happening that municipality has big time problems. Also beware of people that tell you not right sounding stories that begin “I heard . . or I know a guy.”
so they did it for the rush. next time you see them or the parents remind them of the rush they will get when bubba the silver backed gorilla will give them when he bends them over in the prison shower. maybe offer to send them some soap on a rope.
