Update on the Thompson River Canyon memorial layout

I’ve posted before about my N scale Thompson River Canyon layout, made in memory of my brother-in-law who died in 2014. The first side is done; I am working on the other side now, getting it ready for the fall Winnipeg Model Railroad Club show. Visit my blog to see progress photos and info.

I love it, John. I live about an hour from the rockshed modelled in the second picture (the sheds near Goldpan, unless I’m mistaken?) A tremendous area to recreate.

Yes, that’s it. There’s a little campground about a kilometre away called Goldpan; you can easily see the sheds from the riverside sites. Great place to watch the unit trains rumble through.

I live within a two hour drive from this location too. As mentioned, this is a fabulous place to simply watch trains. Both CP and CN have tracks through this area, as many as fourty trains a day each way. This is mountain railroading at it’s best, one can only imagine the difficulty in constructing a railroad through here.
