Well as the old saying goes "If it sounds to good to be true- it probably is. The listings are gone. I had a watch on in my ebay & that is gone too. Sounds like there was something kinky with the seller. So all my whining & sniveling to my CFO was for nought.[:(!][:(]
Hang in there. I have gotten 3 of these, albeit without sound, for under $135; one for $100. I “had to have” the first one and plunked down about $250, and another one along the way was $150. Great engines. If anyone has any of the traction tired wheelsets that are coming with the newer ones, that they would like to sell, please let me know.
Knewsom, When I called Walthers I was very adamantly told that they would NOT sell traction tires for the 2-8-8-2’s for the purpose of retrofit. Not selling spare parts is one of the things that killed Rivarossi’s sales over here. But I guess Walthers knew that too.
Huh, when I talked to Walthers, they told me the decision on selling seperate, spare, traction tired driver wheelsets for the 0-8-0s, 2-8-4s, and 2-8-8-2s had not been made yet. I was real impressed because the line was busy, so I left a message and they Honest to Goodness called me back, with an answer. I’d really hate it if the answer turned out to be wrong now !
You’re more fortunate than I. I e-mailed Walthers several months ago asking them when they were going to have more code 83 turnouts available–received a nice automated response at the time saying they would be contacting me soon to answer my inquity; have never heard anything from them since!!
Tough break Tommy. That’s Ebay for ya. I lucked out the other day when I visited my LHS. He had a LL Proto Hertitage 2-8-8-2 for $235 w/o sound or decoder. I test ran it and fell in love. It even was done up in N&W. So even after I put in the Soundtraxx Tsunaumi decoder , I’ll come out ahead. It still will be a cheaper deal than buying it new from Walthers. Better luck next time ole boy. Good luck.
