Updated, got my first issue! Subscribed to MR.... and Thanks to Kalmbach!

… and got my son’s school a bunch of money!

My sons Middle School, as a fund raiser, sells magazine subscriptions, orders due today. MR (and Trains) are one of the choices. So I signed up for MR, sent a MR Christmas gift one to a friend, and got my wife Canadian Living. And the school gets over $50 from just three subscriptions!

10-12 weeks before the first issue arrives.

I am not sure what, if any, role Kalmbach has in this (special rates?) but good for them to allow their prodcuts to be part of this. From my son’s school, thanks!

I hope this is on the up 'n up. Several members over the years have reported getting renewal notices from places offering “discounted” subscriptions to MR and other magazines, and there have been the obvious problems later. But I agree, if Kalmbach is involved in this, it is a nice way to spread the word and get kids involved…or at least interested.

The forms and catalog came home from the school, with a note about it. It was not a mailed out renewal notice. It’s from the Canadian Community Reading Plan, in Kelowna. $58 CDN for MR, for 12 months.

Looks good to me! But I will let you know in 12 weeks [:D]

My ex-wife is a teacher, and when her school did their annual magazine fundraiser, that’s when I renewed my MR, Classic Trains, and a couple of other magazines. Never had a problem. I don’t remember the name of the service they used, but it always went through. That’s in the US though, not Canada.

Maybe it’s on the up and up. The regular subscription rate for one year appears to be $52.95 Canadian https://secure.kalmbach.com/offer/default.aspx?c=IF67M.

I believe that would be in US dollars, as that is what it has been when I subscribed before. So I am saving a little off the regular price when converted to CDN but the school gets about 1/3 of what I am paying. An all around win-win for me me and the school.

And then I can access all the subscriber content! Bonus [tup]

Looking at the link, it says one year subscription is $42.95 US, $52.95 Can. So unless there is some sort of conversion of Canadian dollars to US dollars to arrive at $52.95 that I don’t know about, it appears that you paid a premium to help fund the contribution to the school.

Regardless, if it all works out and the money is for a good cause, then it is probably an okay transaction.

It’s no scam, got my first issue today, in a plain brown wrapper [:I][8D]

It’s the January issue, looking forward to February!

Very good to see. I was wondering on the basis of some other traffic over the past few years here, and due to some novel scams that keep popping up.

Enjoy.
