I just updated my MTH DCS handheld remote and TIU unit. And I had a glitch. Normally I do an update and it goes smooth as silk. But it has been so long since I did one that I forgot the cardinal rule…TAKE IT STEP BY STEP!!! Instead, I hooked up all the wiring and then opened the update program. And promptly got repeated error messages. I must emphasize to everyone…FIRST OPEN THE UPDATE PROGRAM…THEN HOOK UP THE CONNECTING WIRES IN THE EXACT ORDER THE PROGRAM TELLS YOU TO DO!!!
Once I did things as instructed by the update program, things went smooth as silk again. And an added perk…it seems the newest version of the updater actually checks the baud rate on it’s own and automatically adjusts it. This is a nice addition that I don’t think existed in the early versions of the program. I used my laptop for the update and my cable connection to it was a USB-to-serial-TIU connecior. I have been using this connection for the past two updates and it works great. Another thing I noticed was I didn’t have to use any Mickey Mouse clothespin clips or laying a stack of books on the power switch on the handheld while doing the update. It went VERY quickly and I just held my thumb down on it. Took about 2 minutes to update the handheld.
