I have 700 E …1990 vintage…and I would like to upgrade it with MTH PS2. Any thoughts?

Unfortunately the 1990 700E is very difficult to upgrade to PS2. PS2 requires a DC motor and some means of mounting a tach strip (usually on the outside of a flywheel). The 1990 700E was pretty faithful to the 1937 original and featured an open frame AC motor with no flywheel. What makes things even more difficult is that the motor frame is directly connected to the chassis ground. It is relatively straight forward to upgrade the engine to TMCC with the Electric RR AC/DC Commander. Unfortunately, the speed control is nowhere near as precise as PS2, but you can at least run the engine on a command control layout.
