I have searched for help but canb’t find it. would like to attach photos for my post about a new layout. When I click insert picture I get a box opened that doesn’t permit me to browse to the folder where the picture is.

Welcome, and no you cannot do it that way.
You must first put your photos on a server somewhere (Photobucket or something like that–there are many such free servers out there for the hosting of photos.)
Then you get the HTML code from that server, (it may be a “share” link ore something like that, LION does not know 'cause him runs his own server–and him is not even the secretary of state!)
Then click on the photo icon above, and paste that information in there. What happens is that your post has a snipit of code that tells the end users’s browser to “go over there and get that photo for me.”
So the photos that you see in the forums are not on the MR servers at all.
Here is my “Sneaky Leopard”. Him thought him could throw the switch.

I had a hard time too, someone sent me this and it worked. You need to upload your pictures to Photobucket then follow the info below.
Click on the “direct” choice under “SHARE LINKS” in Photobucket. Then click on the “insert/edit image” icon (looks like a mountain) in the MR Forum post box and paste in the link.

It’s even easier from photobucket:
Select the photo which you want to use - clicking on it gives an enlarged view - then simply click on the “img” line of data. This automatically copies it, then simply “paste” it into your composition window here, in the place where you wish it to appear. It will show as a line of data, but once you hit “Submit”, will appear in your post as a photo.
