Upper right corner - "Welcome back, xxx"

How come when I pull up the site without me being signed in, about half of the time it displays someone else’s name? I know that at least one is a member here because I recognized the name. Fortunately, it won’t let me do anything with it, but it just isn’t real private.

The problem you describe has never happened to me.

Someone said something about this recently. It’s some sort of database issue. Like you say, unless you’re able to sign in as someone else, it won’t work for you, but a little disconcerting.

It happens to me once in a while. I usually end up as someone that has a mediocre layout like mine. If I ever land on the name of a guy with a “Grand Empire”. WATCH OUT I’m takin over![(-D]

This used to happen a few years ago. I still posted as myself, it just displayed the wrong name in that one place. This was on different forum software, but it was nothing to worry about then.

This is nothing new. I posted about this back in August of last year: http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/209264.aspx

I believe that there was something I read back at that time that “they” were aware of the issue.

Note the third line in the welcome box:

Not XXXXX? Click here >>

I presume that will re-set a switch or alert a software malfunction register. Since I’ve never had that happen to me, I’ve never clicked there.

Been there, done that. Still get the message.

This Indexing system is so screwed up,any thing is possible at this stage…I’ve been over 1350,8 times now and keep going backwards, this morning,I had 47 posts, one badge, now I am zero, with nothing…What you experienced,is the same system, you and I have a number associated, with who we are,and that is also screwed up,whatever the Wizards are doing in the search for the problem, they are making it worse,in my opinion…I gave up calling them…

Cheers,

Frank

Also I did not mention this, but I will now…Two days ago,I shut down my system, rather leave on stand by…When I got the MR site,I clicked on Home page and immediately got a Malware Warning from my anti-virus software, which is Avast,it did that four times…I shut it down completely and started over…Hasn’t happened yet since then, but heck,no telling anymore…

Cheers,

Frank

You think you have problems, someone keeps spray painting over my avatar. [8o|]

I reported this problem several months ago, and I thought it would be fixed.

If I open the Forum, and I am not already logged in, I often see other people’s names.

You can also, look at their account information.

One of the other people was a Model Railroader editor.

So why didn’t you take advantage of the situation and edit out the horrid green pop up bar while you were in.[(-D]

Folks, did you notice we suddenly have tabbing, which defaults to Your Conversations instead of the All Recent Posts display? Or maybe it’s just me? That was a little confusing.

Someone’s working on it, prepare to take alternate routes in case of congestion, etc, etc.[;)][st][{][#dots]

Guy’s,We can all Joke about it and surely,I have done My share of that, but strangely, maybe??It’s really starting to get me Tee’ d off,we are paying to be on confusion…Just My two Cents…Now,later,I’ll be missing my screen name…Instead of welcome back,It will say Don’t come back…[:P]

Cheers,[D]

I’m now just glad I can still post…

I’m not sure that this is correct. I got someone else’s name this morning and selected “update account”. Once you get there you need a user name and password. So I don’t believe that one can actually see anyone else’s information. If you truly were able to see that stuff, I hope you called customer service to report the incident.

I tried a time or two to click on the manage profile button while a different name was posted, but it would not work for me. I’m glad of that!

For what’s it’s worth, I probably have a little less than a hundred posts, but I’m back down to zero.

Sounds like that part was fixed. Glad for that… Now, when I see another users name, I don’t click on account information. … What I recall from when I saw it (months ago) was it showed subscriptions information for Kalmbach ,agazines, but nothing to cause a an ID theft to happen.
