Can you tell me what is wrong with trying to make a few $$$$$$. If any of you will kindly read the news they don’t make as much as you might think. I can’t belive how many people hate the UP, just because they’re the best ([:D] and you know it[:D]).

Say what you want about the UP, but at least they know what color to paint their engines. BNSF has been around for 10 years or so and they still don’t know what color to paint their engines. Can’t wait to see Heritage scheme #27 in a few years… black & white with a stallion on the front and a big NS on the side!
I think a lot of the rancor goes to attitude, not making money. Especially if the blurb about executive loans is correct, which I know nothing of in the definative sense.
There seems to be a contradiction on this thread and a few others. I thought that UP was good for putting American flags on their power and showed how they support aand are proud of the USA. If one were to read a number of posts on the topic of UP one would think they’re quite destructive.
I don’t know if UP or any other railroad is “the best.” What’s the criteria?
What’s that got to do with anything in the defense of UP’s situation as discussed? So they haven’t done anything with their colors since the Streamliners started running. By the way the grey used to be brown. Be that as it may, the color scheme maybe the only thing good about UP, and I don’t know enough to render an opinion, but how can that be used as a defense of their attitude?
Not my posts I am a big fan of the UP I think that they have a right to try and make money, that is quite American. I love the flag paint scheme; I think this joke is not funny.
I like all western railroads not just the UP.

Who has said that UP doesn’t have the right to make money? No one dissagrees with that. I think what has been said here and elsewhere is the UP’s attitude for doing that. I have no knowledge on that, one way or the other, on that specific topic.
I don’t think that executives, if the alegations are true, have a right to borrow from an employee’s fund, and then welch on the debt. This combined with the UP’s attitude on the model railroad situation may be the cause of the line’s ill-fame here.
As for me, I’ve been mad at them ever since they dumped the dome-diner on the Cities trains. But I’m an old timer that merely remembers when most everything worked c
I should have mentioned that the paint scheme was funny.
2 hours sixteen minutes & 35 seconds… total time for BNSF fan to respond. I was expecting a better response than “whatever”. I mean, I decide to defend the UP and the best you can come up with is “what ever”. That’s the last time I defend the UP.
