…These posts really look interesting…aardvark1917 and csxengineer98…Now I must see if I can figure out how to pull up a specific map to observe…I’m trying…

Wow…CSX Eng…I just followed the B&O RR {Boswell Branch}, from Somerset, Pa. to Boswell…on your maps…Distance of roughly 10 miles…Great…! Looks like they dropped approx. 300-400’ in that distance.

This is one of my favorite historic map sites.

scroll way down, the list is long

another good source: http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/map_sites/hist_sites.html#US

And then this one is good too, the historic panaramic maps onder the heading ‘cities and towns’ is a treasure trove of info showing old RR track layouts in turn of the century configuration for many cities: http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/

You guys have probably deprived me of any spare time I might have accrued in the coming year!

(Thanks! Seriously.)

now if you want to make a hard copy of the map… once the image is all loaded up…right click on it…and save it to your computer…then go into your paint program that comes with windows… and load the pic up in that program…but dont do anything with it… then go to print image…it will print it out in a way that will give you 9 pages for 1 map segment…then just put the puzzle together and tape it up …i have done this for a few quads already to make the full maps for my own personal resurch…

…We’ll try that a little later…Thanks. {CSX Eng.}.
