US modelling across the pond .

Wish i had the depth of models you can get in usa i have to struggle with inflated prices and non availible items ,and its been expensive learning curve in mistakes .Dont no if its just my luck or lack of it but there is some rubbish out there and most of it made in red china oops sorry might get shot now by chinese secret service .forgot were trying to woo them now anyway enough of politics . lets have some views i may be wrong 1 bachmann chinese sy282 mikado which has been modded to resemble usa type , tender to loco mount snapped within 1 hour pls note i run 42inch curves ,valve gear fell off spent hours re assemble marks out of ten 4/bachmann 2 8 0 just didnt go whatever i did ,but i did enjoy hitting it with ten pound hammer looked better in bits / rivarossi bought 3 older locos 4 6 2 /2 8 2 / 0 8 0 and i have managed to get 2 locos out of 3 not bad slightly better than bachmann except you can here them running down the street .Now the interesting item of ebay about i suppose 40 dollars a brazillian frateschi 4 6 0 tender drive crude steamer which runs perfect and looks ok for its price well done brazil ,not just football . ar well proto 100 f7 diesel detail poor runs adequate 5 out of ten still made in china /walthers train line gp diesel not bad nothing to write home about 5 out of ten .think athearn still better value than both of those ,I DO HAVE OUT RIGHT WINNER UP TILL NOW THOUGH /wait for it first run atlas rs2 diesel switcher lovely heavy chassis very quiet motor superb low speed especially on feed back good detail for price dont no if prototype im not that bothered but the big thing made in austria well done atlas . OH PS rolling stock well done INTERMOUNTAIN /ACCURAIL/AND BRANCHLINE TRAINS EXCELLENT .

That’s life. Another stitch dropped in the vast tapestry of life.

Welcome Beyer to the forum.

My first Bachmann experience was not good at all. I avoided them for years. Recently I got one of the Bachmann Spectrum line of steamers and am very impressed. There is no comparison between Bachmann basic and Bachmann Spectrum.

I’ve got one Bachmann loco of US outline (U36B), bought last Christmas time, looks fine on the outside but runs like a nightmare, hates slopes and screams like a little girl!!

Saying that one of my friends at the Chatham MR club last night, has just got a new Bachmann - Chinese outline loco - it runs like a dream.
