Hi All

I have one of these and am wanting to convert it to digital.

I have asked USA trains, and got little back, and done a dig to find out how to get this thing apart.

I have found nothing.

I have undone all the screws i can find, can get the cab off, but cannot get the two hoods off. They don’t slide, I cant see any more than two screws at each end, they don’t pry off. Any ideas on how to ge the [censored] apart would be appreciated?

Has anyone installed a digital module into one of these?

What is your experience?

I think my 44-tonner has two screws at the end of each hood, they are partialy hidden by the trucks. Hope this helps.

Nic,
Underneath the wheels nearest the middle of the loco are two VERY deep holes. You will need a long screwdriver to get at the screws in the bottom of the holes.
If the screwdriver is really long I find you can wriggle it down in between the wheels and frame to get into the holes.
Otherwise the trucks have to come off.
